With all of this Spring Break talk, it brings up the ever-so-treacherous Mexico topic. From the sounds of things, it has only gotten worse, which makes me sad because I will worry about the people traveling there even though they will take every precaution necessary and handle themselves like adults; however, it is not only sad for that reason. I know people who live their lives for that one week of the summer that they get to travel to Cabo, and now they are terrified of their paradise. That's terrible. Is it really necessary for the drug wars to involve American tourists? Probably not, but that is what it has come to. I had a picture up on my facebook and a mother commented "Oh no, you aren't going to Mexico are you?!" Not "cute picture" or "miss you girls"...the fear factor is the first thing that comes to people's minds. Mexico has lost its getaway, vacation-of-a-lifetime appeal. So what happens now? The main cities whose economies thrive on the tourist income tank and well, with it goes the rest of the country (hence MAIN cities). That is what "the people" are saying, at least. Think about the thousands of other countries that are even more unstable than Mexico that could undergo this hurt with the advent of some type of war. The world would consist of a few semi-powerful nations all trying to hold each other up. Mexico doesn't deserve that. The rest of us couldn't live without chips and hot sauce and, let's face it, times are happier without unnecessary war.
Safe Spring Break travels.
