Painting a Room
My family is moving and my mom was asking how I wanted my room decorated. The first question: "What color do you want the walls?" How crazy that this makes a room; I mean it's just a color. Red is traditional for a dining room and light blue bathrooms are perfect for bubble baths. Hot pink is ideal for a baby princess' bedroom and navy with red trim screams little cowboy's playroom. Our bodies have become so conditioned by color that the sight of lavender can calm our nerves. Couples will stand at the paint table in Home Depot for hours arguing over "lemon" or "sunflower" but we call people shallow for desiring the newest shoes in the spring line? I suppose a room is a bit more constant than those stilettos, but all the same, we treat it as a life decision. We have literally convinced ourselves that a shade darker will help us sleep a few extra hours and a color brighter will do wonders on our makeup in the mornings. I wonder if the cavemen just loved that "steel" color they were stuck with. Or was it "charcoal"?
