Valentine's Day: National Singles Awareness Day or Day of Love?

What a trying question.. In my opinion, Valentine's Day is exactly what you make it. Some singles can go to the grocery store and ignore the bright pink and red section bursting with roses, singing cards, and heart-shaped chocolate and some go to the grocery store on February 14th, buy out that aisle, and lie in bed crying all day eating the chocolates and watching love actually. Come on, people. Control yourselves. I was particularly questioning this Valentine's Day asking singles what they thought and asking couple's what their plans were and the results we very interesting. There were just as many singles that said "Oh, it's Valentine's Day?" as there were that said "Perfect night for a girls dinner!" and likewise, just as many couples that believed Valentine's Day was no different than any other day as there were that bought their significant other a rose for every second they had been together. So, to each his own. If you want to boycott the day and curse every couple that passes you holding hands, go for it! And if you go out on a limb every year and ask your crush on a dinner date, more power to you! Valentine's Day: do it your way.

"What's there to hate?"
"Nothing, if you're a handsome, divorced doctor, but for the rest of us single women, it's kind of a giant cosmic bitchslap. It's like the universe saying, look, remember when you were fourteen and you had cystic acne and braces and you played the saxophone in the marching band and no one would invite you to the winter formal? Well nothing's changed."
